How to Prevent your Plumbing Disasters at Home
Plumbing issues are a part of every homeowner's experience, but not every problem needs a costly professional fix. From clogged drains to running toilets, many common plumbing problems can be handled with a few tools and basic know-how
Leaky Faucets
Loose or worn washers often cause drips. Shut off the water, disassemble the faucet, and replace the faulty part.
Slow Drains
Hair and soap buildup are usual suspects. Use a plunger, drain snake, or natural cleaner like baking soda and vinegar.
Running Toilets
A malfunctioning flapper or chain is the usual culprit. Inspect the tank, adjust or replace parts as needed.
Low Water Pressure
Mineral deposits in aerators and showerheads can block flow. Soak in vinegar or replace for better pressure.
Leaky Pipes
Temporary fixes like pipe clamps or epoxy can help, but replacing the damaged section is best for long-term solution.
Water Heater Problems
No hot water? Check the thermostat or pilot light. Flushing the tank can remove sediment buildup.
Clogged Garbage Disposal
Press the reset button, or use an Allen wrench at the bottom to manually free jams.
Slow Bathtub Drain
Remove stoppers, clear hair and soap residue with a drain stick or snake.
Toilet Doesn’t Flush Fully
Check water level, flapper, and chain. Adjust or replace parts to restore proper flush.
Sewer Smells
Dry traps or broken seals can cause odors. Pour water into unused drains and inspect toilet wax seals.
